Following the release of Zafar Ali, the president of the Shahi Jama Masjid Management Committee, from jail, a celebratory procession was organized, leading to legal action against him and several others. This information was confirmed by local police.
According to a statement released late Tuesday night by district police, a complaint was filed by Sub-Inspector Ashish Tomar at the Sambhal police station. The complaint names Zafar Ali along with individuals named Sarfaraz, Tahir, and Haider, as well as 50 to 60 unidentified persons, for violating Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Security Code.
Zafar Ali is accused in a case related to violence that occurred during a survey of the Jama Masjid last year. He was released from Moradabad Jail on August 1 of this year. Following his release, a road show spanning approximately 40 kilometers was conducted between Moradabad and Sambhal.
During the procession, flowers were showered on his convoy at various locations, and welcome events were held. The police took action after a video of the procession surfaced on social media.
